Council for the Protection of Rural England

CPRE is a national charity that helps people protect their local countryside where it is threatened, to enhance it when there is opportunity, and to keep it beautiful, productive and enjoyable for everyone. Its Patron is Her Majesty the Queen and its President is Prunella Scales. Their national website address is www.greenchannel.com/cpre/

CPRE has fifty thousand supporters, a branch in every county, eight regional groups, over two hundred local groups and a national office in Westminster.

The Staffordshire Branch has been in existence over sixty years and in that time has done much to help in protecting from the county countryside from the attacks of developers. It is not always successful and the attacks never cease.

The branch has formed a number of local groups in the county in order to get as much local knowledge as possible into its activities. Currently there are groups in N. Staffs. , S. Staffs. , Mid. Staffs. and Eastern Staffs.

CPRE would like to establish a group in Staffordshire Moorlands and invites any one who may feel they would like to participate to get in touch to get more information.
