If you cannot find the information you seek here, one good source of information is the SMDC, who maintain their own directory of clubs in the Moorlands area. They also offer other benefits to clubs in the forms of sports equipment loan (like a library), financial assistance to individuals as well as clubs (including rate relief), registers of coaches, training of coaches and organising some special events. Their phone number is 01538 483522 / 483731.
Specific to Cheadle there is the Cheadle & District Sports Council. Cheadle Sports Advisory Council (CSPA) has been running for over 25 years assisting Sports Clubs in the Cheadle area. Membership is open to all Sports Clubs in the Cheadle area and covers most sports.
The CSPA is funded by the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and is represented at the Staffordshire Moorlands District Sports Council, which meets every 3 months so that the Sports Councils of Biddulph, Cheadle and Leek can voice their opinions on Sports matters within the Staffordshire Moorlands.
CSAC meets every second Monday of the Month except August and February in the Cheadle Council Chambers at 19:30hours. In February, CSAC holds a Sports Personality Awards Evening, where the sportsmen and women of Cheadle are recognised for their sporting achievements throughout the year. The categories of the Presentation Evening are: Coaches Award, Administrators Award, Team Award, under 18s Award and Sports Personality Award. Each winner receives a trophy and a Cash Prize, the criteria for these categories are that the nominees live in the Cheadle area or compete for a club in the Cheadle area. Forms for this are obtainable from the Chairman and the local papers, from November to the end of January.
CSAC offers member clubs the opportunity to air their views on sporting matters concerning their clubs, which can, if necessary, be relayed to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. Member clubs receive Grant Aid to assist them in purchasing sports equipment for their club; they can also apply to the Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for Grant Aid and Rate Relief. Any club that wishes to apply for Lottery Funding must be a member of their local Sports Council. CSAC can help to advise sports clubs on their Lottery bids and will be asked by the Lottery on the sports club’s Lottery bid.

Membership numbers have to be kept to a maximum of 25 because of the restricted room in the Winter shooting area. A committee of very experienced and senior archers, who take an active part in club activities (including coaching beginners), supervises the Archery Club.
For the beginner, the South Moorlands Archery Club offers a course of six lessons, one per week, by an accredited Archery coach, in the basic technique of shooting archery. A fee will be charged for this course, which now is £16.00. This fee covers the use of club equipment, school premises and insurance. On completion of the final lesson, if the beginner decides to join the club as a full member, then full affiliation fees will become payable. Advice will be available from the Archery coach on the purchase of necessary equipment.
The club practice at Cheadle High School at times to suit the seasons. GNAS qualified coaches are able to offer individual instruction by arrangement. Its members are also able to arrange demonstrations or corporate events. An annual Spring shoot is held, when clubs from other regions join our Archery Club for a day’s shooting on the school field. Club competitions are shot throughout the year to assess each member’s handicap and the chance to win medals!
